About the title:

That part of Scotland known as Kintail is the ancestral home of Clan MacLennan (whereof the McLendon family are a part), and County Carlow, Ireland is home to the O�Nolans (whereof the Nowlin family are a part), hence the title of our home page.

About our cognomen:

Since the McLendon family are so numerous, we have adopted the cognomen of Shelby County Texas to distinguish our particular branch. The phrase signifies that we descend from Loami Grandberry McLENDON, who settled at Center, Shelby County, Texas in 1888. The comma between the name and cognomen shows that the phrase is a cognomen rather than a Scottish territorial designation.

About our family:

Clifton Palmer McLENDON, of Shelby County Texas (son of Jack Everett McLENDON, of Shelby County Texas and Ruth Kay PALMER) was born 25 June 1953 at Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii. He grew up at Center, Shelby, Texas, and was graduated from Center High School in 1970. After serving in the U.S. Navy and the Texas Army National Guard, and taking ammunition to Desert Storm as a merchant sailor, he took his Baccalaureate of Applied Arts & Sciences in Criminal Justice and Business & Public Administration from Stephen F. Austin State University at Nacogdoches, Nacogdoches, Texas. He is a Customer Service Representative with the Personal Lines department of The Hartford.

On 20 November 1984, Clifton married Eva Faye NOWLIN in the Dallas Texas Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Eva Faye NOWLIN McLENDON, of Shelby County Texas (daughter of Raymond Lorenzo NOWLIN and Mary Elizabeth PRESTON) was born 7 November 1961 at White Hall, Greene, Illinois. Besides being chatelaine of our little castle, she is an accomplished genealogist specializing in Five Tribes research.

Sylvia Rose McLENDON, of Shelby County Texas (daughter of Clifton Palmer McLENDON, of Shelby County Texas and Eva Faye NOWLIN) was born 3 August 1995 at Houston, Harris, Texas. She is named for her second-great-grandmother Sylvia FRAZIER, who was enrolled under her married name of Sylvia OKAYAMBBY as Chickasaw No. 2827. Sylvia Rose is preparing to start pre-school in August 1999.

Juliette, the smooth black & tan miniature Dachshund, is the Chief of Security.

We three are members of the Oklahoma City Third Ward, Oklahoma City Oklahoma Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Clifton is the Resources Clerk and a substitute teacher, Faye is an assistant Meetinghouse Librarian, and Sylvia is a member of the Sunbeam class in Primary.
